Military Service:
US Army Vietnam 70-71

Entered US Army June 1969, Served Vietnam 70-71 as a 19 year old Infantry Sergeant with the 1st Cav. Left service in 1972 and went to work for General Electric. Spent 25 years of my 35 years as a Maint. Supervisor. In 1976 went back to school and earned my degree from IVCC and spent two years going back and forth to ISU, never finshed my degree 20 hours short working and going to school part time with kids was very trying. Do I regret it... nope.

Spare time spent last 30 years supporting Veterans and their family's. Talk to kids in the school about the meaning of Memorial and Veterans day. Hosted both for over 20 years. Worked on several community projects that included the 4th of July and Veterans Plaza. 2004 Recieved the first Veteran of the Year Award. Award is named in my honor and is given to the Veteran who gives the most back promoting, the community, Veterans and their causes.

Now retired and babysitting. Love it. Now I know what I missed when my girls were growing up. Trying to make up for it. Cat's in the Cradle syndrome. Presently writing a book on my experience in Vietnam. Part of what is completed is on the my Home web page under Tour 365 Shakey's War.

If you have Veteran related questions, Call me or email at shakey25@frontier.com

School Story:

Spirit Stick, if memory serves right and I am getting old, we won it as freshman and never gave it up until we graduated. We kicked butt ans took names...
